**Review**

Open is Jason Morant's intense 2006 album. To tell you the truth, it took me nearly three months to get past the first three tracks, I was so taken aback by the fresh sound and beautiful lyrics. The title track, Open is a great song, whose lyrics tell us to “Open up your doors. Let the Son shine out into the night you're hiding from”. Jason's voice, which has an uncanny resemblance to Chris Martin's (Coldplay's lead singer), is mesmerising.
Come Let Us Return is a great track that starts in simple timing and migrates to a awesome sixteen beat rhythm for the chorus. It talks about giving thanks for all the incredible things that God has done for us. I Will Run is a delicate and exquisite song with stunning harmonies. The sound is built up with a rhythm guitar, picking on a acoustic guitar and simple chords on a piano. Strings and a banjo feature in the interlude allowing the sound to progress into a complex web of strings and voice before the final chorus.
The album closes with Hosanna a song of worship about our Saviour Jesus Christ. The choir produce and almost angelic sound. Just as you think the track is finished, the piano continues to which is joined by drums and then a driving guitar; followed by the choir singing “Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna.” There is no other word for this album apart from beautiful. It's simply fantastic and I'd recommend it to anyone.
